Panpan Gao graduated from Beijign Language and Culture University with a master's degree in applied Chinese linguistics with a focus on pedagogy for Chinese as a second language.

Panpan Gao graduated from Beijign Language and Culture University with a master's degree in applied Chinese linguistics with a focus on pedagogy for Chinese as a second language. She has been teaching Chinese language at the university level since 2010. Prior to coming to MIT, she taught at Harvard University. In addition to teaching, she has also been involved in textbook writing and teacher training for intensive language summer program.

Her primary pedagogical interest are cultral teaching and multi-media in the teaching. She contributes her passion to give students the ability not just to communicate clearly, but elegantly and with a sense of the emotional power of language. She is also working on using instant message apps in classroom teaching to promote cross-cultral communication between Chinese learners and their counterparts in China.
