Dr. Haohsiang Liao is Senior Lecturer of Chinese Studies directing the Chinese Language Program at MIT.
Dr. Haohsiang Liao is Senior Lecturer of Chinese Studies directing the Chinese Language Program at MIT. Before joining GSL in 2013, he has taught Chinese at Williams College, Harvard University, and the Ohio State University. He has also co-authored three Chinese language textbooks for advanced learners – Understanding the People and the World: Advanced Chinese, Discussing Everything Chinese: A Comprehensive Textbook in Intermediate-High Chinese, and When to Say What. Dr. Liao’s areas of expertise are Chinese language pedagogy, second language acquisition, cross-cultural communication, and teacher training and evaluation. He is a life member of Chinese Language Teachers Association (CLTA), New England Chinese Language Teachers Association (NECLTA), and Association of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language (ATCSL).
