Adela Penagos came to MIT in 2017. She currently also teaches at Boston College and is the President of Futuro Enlightened, a college and graduate admissions consulting firm.

Adela Penagos came to MIT in 2017. She currently also teaches at Boston College and is the President of Futuro Enlightened, a college and graduate admissions consulting firm. She has taught at Boston University and the University of Notre Dame. Additionally, she was the Associate Dean of Academic Advising at Harvard College from 2010-2012 and an Assistant Dean in the College of Arts and Letters at the University of Notre Dame from 2008-2010.

Her research interests include cultural studies, race and border issues, and technology’s impact in second language acquisition and cognitive development. She conducts her classes in in a student-centered environment fostering intellectual and personal connections, critical thinking, and opportunities to broaden one’s learning while developing habits of the mind that students will hone inside and outside the classroom.

Penagos has received the Canvas Learning Analytics Research Grant at Boston College and the Career Enhancement Grant from the Institute for Scholarship in Liberal Arts, Team Irish Award, and Premio Julián Samora from the University of Notre Dame.
