Interpretation and analysis of works by international filmmakers who focus on male homosexual desire. Primary attention given to ways in which screen representations of same-sex desire affect narrative form, cinematic style, and human vision. Contrasts Hollywood entertainment with independent and international artworks. Films studied in cultural and socio-political contexts. Directors include: Pedro Almodovar, Gregg Araki, Greg Berlanti, Jean Genet, Todd Haynes, Derek Jarman, Isaac Julien, Marlon Riggs, Gus Van Sant, and S�bastien Lifshitz. Foreign language films screened with subtitled versions. Taught in English.
