Introduction to German language and culture. Acquisition of vocabulary and grammatical concepts through active communication. Audio, video, and printed materials provide direct exposure to authentic German language and culture. Self-paced language lab program is fully coordinated with textbook/workbook. Development of effective basic communication skills. Same as 21G.401, but for graduate credit. Meets with 21G.471 when offered concurrently. Limited to 18 per section.

Regular Semester Sections: Enrollment limited to 18 for pedagogical reasons. Preference will be given to pre-registered students, including pre-registered undergraduates who were cut from the same class the previous semester due to the enrollment cap. Please note that you have to attend the first day of class to maintain your preference level. In case of overenrollment, preference will be given in the following order: declared majors, declared minors, declared concentrators, pre-registered students of 21G.076J, sophomores, juniors, freshmen, seniors and graduate students.

IAP Sections:  Enrollment limited to 25 for pedagogical reasons. Preference given to sophomores and juniors. Graduate students may apply but are given the lowest priority. This subject is always overenrolled. Absolutely no listeners.
